This beautifully bound book contains 534 pages on ingredients and brand names that are Gluten Free.
There are labelling requirements for all US products based on the FALCPA – Food Allergen Labelling and Consumer Protection Act of 2004 (There should be something similar for Canadians too) so you could just read the label of EVERY SINGLE item you purchase. OR, the author of this book has made a HUGE list of products, by type, then brand, that are gluten free and safe for those avoiding gluten by choice, with Celiac Disease or gluten intolerance’s.
The book is colour coded based on the section that lists all the brand names that are safe to eat, including store brand names. For Canadians, the downside is that we do not have a lot of these choices. For example, under Jams and Jellies (Page 265) – there are MANY brands I’ve never heard of, but I was able to located Smucker’s and ED Smith in my VERY SMALL TOWN grocery store.
The same thing goes for Pickles: Great Value, Heinz, Safeway, Vlassics
And even Canned Tomatoes. There were 81 different brands mentioned in the book for American stores, and I recognized the following brands as being sold here, and my hometown: best choice, fairly organic, Delmonte, Great Value, Hunts, Oh Organics, Safeway.
The Condiments, Sauces and Dressings section is the largest in the entire book, covering 78 pages in total — from page 265 – 343.
It might take a little while to get used to using such a large book, and finding where everything is located in the book… but I think it would be a great help to not only Americans, but Canadians as well suffering from problems with Gluten. They also offer a digital version of this book if you would rather carry it with you on your phone, rather than a hard copy.
I received this book free of charge in exchange for an honest opinion. PLEASE check back in a couple days and I will have added more photos… needing to get to sleep right now.
